Rabbit Killer Shocks Germany

Assalamualaikum wbt

It's not human life the murderer's after, but the cute little creature in backyard is the main target for this serial killer in Germany is looking for. I don't know what grudge does this killer is holding towards pet rabbit, but it must be really serious since more than 30 pet rabbits were killed.

Elfriede Dumont, the rabbit owner told a story that's happen to her pet rabbit. One morning, when I came out to feed my rabbits, I was surprised to see that the hutch door was open," recalls Elfriede. "I looked inside and saw Rocco just lying there. His head was missing. A little later I found Felina in the bushes. She'd been killed, too. I just cannot understand why."

Elfriede Dumont cannot understand the motive for killing her pets. Me neither.

Rocco and Felina are among the 30 pet rabbits killed in the towns of Witten and Dortmund since last summer.
Many of the rabbits have been decapitated and the blood drained from their bodies. "I would never expect something to happen here," says Elfriede's granddaughter, Sabrina. "This place is so quiet. You can leave your car open and everything's fine. Yet there are people who murder rabbits!"

At the same time, police fear the attacker could switch from killing rabbits to killing people. "It's always the same," Officer Schuette explains. "Detectives find the rabbit lying dead in a hutch. An unknown person has cut off the head and drained off the blood in a box or a bottle. So we find no blood and no head."

It is one of the most shocking cases of animal cruelty that Germans can remember. This case makes me sick!

Animal Pictures Pt 2

Assalamualaikum wbt

When I sit alone I remember some of my friends that were teased by animals name, such as mole because he has a teeth that looks like a mole, Shiro (the name of Shin Chan's dog which literally means white in Japanese) because his skin is white and hippo because he is fat.

I don't know who start calling it first, but those names become their nick name for the whole 6 semesters in university, and sometimes I don't really remember their true name. However they don't get mad, it's just a joke at first and they accept the nickname gradually. Sometimes I also see an animals characteristics in people around me. When I see a girl with too much makeup it reminds me of peacock. When I see someone who is so stubborn, it reminds me a mules.

Roy Feinson said that the fundamental aspects of animal personalities can be summarized with the four Fs:
Feeding, Fighting, Fleeing and Sex.

Feeding techniques translate into the career that its corresponding human personality would choose. Bird personalities, for example, prefer jobs that provide a great deal of freedom, while sheep personalities flourish under the direction of a strong dog personality. Bear personas have a need to maintain control of their environment and chafe under the direction of a boss.

Fighting is equivalent to the way in which a person controls his or her environment. Carnivorous personalities are assertive and adventurous, while herbivorous personalities tend to be passive and cautious.

Fleeing is how people protect themselves from each other. Herd animal personalities find refuge in the company of friends and family, while a mouse personality keeps a low profile to avoid danger.

Sex describes the ways we interact with the opposite sex. From the brutal strength display of the wild elk to the seductive display of the peacock, all creatures exert control over their reproductive choices. Some animal species are monogamous while others have a variety of mates. An animal's mating habits translate directly into the way that people conduct their sexual relationships. Beaver personalities mate for life, while tiger personalities are solitary and rarely monogamous.

Rabbit's Food Pyramid

Assalamualaikum wbt

Ever heard of 'You're what you eat'? Well that goes the same on rabbit, they're what they eat. It's a common belief that the only things rabbit eat is pellets. Where does this myth came from? People give rabbits  pellets because it's cheap, ease of feeding and rapid weight gain for the sake of livestock market, where rabbits are raised only for their meat or fur.

The fact is feeding a rabbit with pellet for the whole of their lives only contribute to obesity, chronic soft stools, overproduction of waste, urine sludge, and other calcium related health issues. It's not their choice to eat what they want, instead the owner is responsible to give them a healthy diet which leads to healthy life. If rabbits can talk I'm sure they'll say "Boss, I need something else to eat, not just pellets." or worse "Give me other food or else I'll run away from this house!"

The food pyramid for rabbit goes like this.

They need a lot of hay for their digestive system, and the least for treats.

For human, this is our food pyramid. It's an excellent tool to help you make a healthy food choices.

P.S. I'm still figuring on how to increase a body weight. My friends were shocked to see me become thinner after 5 months didn't met. Well I don't know which side I'm thin because my body weight is still maintain since I left the university, which is 56 kg and height 1.76. I'm underweight! Actually I don't really care about it. Become thin means you can eat what you want.

Rabbit in the Moon

Assalamualaikum wbt

They said that the western world see the man in the moon, but in the eastern world they see a rabbit in the moon. Stories on how this begin go back thousand of years ago. There're many legends about the rabbit in the moon but the most common one goes something like this.

A rabbit, monkey, fox and otter were friends. One day the Buddha came along disguised himself as a hermit begging for alms. The otter took off into the water and brought the hermit some fish. The fox was able to find some milk-curd to give to the hermit. While the monkey climbed a tree and retrieved some fruit and gave it to hermit.

Unfortunately, the rabbit had nothing to give except some grass which the hermit could not eat, so he threw himself in the fire to become a meal for alms beggar. Immediately the Buddha revealed himself  and saved the rabbit from the flames. He then rewarded the rabbit by drawing his picture in the moon.

The truth is I've never seen one, maybe because I always see the moon like this

Why You Like Rabbits?

Assalamualaikum wbt

People who haven't own a rabbit often ask those who do if a rabbit would make a wonderful pet, and if so, do  they look more like cats or dogs. I found it's hard to answer this question not only to make a comparison between those pets, but the nature of the question themselves makes me feel uncomfortable.

Naturally most people perceive that any animal should be a good pet if she shows affection the way we want it to be. For example, coming when called, fetch a thing, chase a string, or make a vocal sound. People usually seem fairly sure that these qualities can't be expected in rabbit, hence they would not make a good pet. Such assumptions take away the responsibility for the relationship from  the human being and place solely on the animal. Although the rabbit is expected to comply with human expectations, too often human being never consider complying with her.

What they look like?

Do they look more like cats or dogs? Instead of answering the question I rather asking them a question. Are people more like gorilla or monkey? Rabbits are rabbits, the only way you want to know them better is by live with them. They share the same characteristics of cats, and sometimes dogs. But mostly they're like rabbits and the true joy of keeping them is learning of what they're like as a rabbit.

Maybe the phrase of rabbit as wonderful, exciting, and intelligent creatures only works with people who understand the value of companionship from a creatures name rabbit!

Fine $3000 for Mistreating Rabbit

Assalamualaikum wbt

A Man admits mistreating rabbits was fined $3,000 in Edmonton court. Well I guess that was a worth action for abusing small animals. Personally I hate people who treat any animal in bad manner. All pet owner should know their obligation once they've keeping a pet. Even a small hamster is not an easy thing to take care off.

EDMONTON — William Lavery may have considered his pet rabbits his “babies,” but when animal protection officers found them in an abandoned bus last year, the animals were sickly, injured, malnourished and soaked in urine and feces. Four were dead.

“It’s not a case of wrongdoing, but it is a case of letting it get out of hand,” Lavery’s lawyer, Doug Vigen, told an Edmonton court Wednesday. Lavery pleaded guilty to causing an animal to be in distress and was fined $3,000. The animals were discovered by a photographer and models doing a photo shoot in the area around 9620 27th Ave. on Nov. 10, 2009. The group approached the bus after smelling a foul odor.

Crown prosecutor Christian Lim painted a grim picture of the scene inside the cold, dark bus. Lim said the rabbits were caked with feces and soaked in urine, and some appeared malnourished. Some had bite marks on them and some were missing their testicles or penises. Many of the animals had contagious infections and urine burns, Lim said.

Owww man.....it's totally awful!

Of the 41 live rabbits taken from the bus by animal protection officers, 26 were euthanized. The rest were treated for health problems and placed for adoption at the Edmonton Humane Society. Both the defence and Crown characterized the case Wednesday as a situation that began with good intentions.

These rabbits were placed in women toilet..... guess what they saw....?

There're too many pictures of animal abusing if you google it. Those pictures are more horrifying and pathetic than any other pictures I've ever seen.
Say NO to animal abusing!

Rabbits Pros and Cons

Assalamualaikum wbt

Every pet we keep either cat, dog, mouse, rabbit or bird has their own advantages and disadvantages. Through  the experience of keeping a rabbit, I came up with several good and bad things of keeping a bunny.

Doing cute

Rabbit as pet-Pros

-Bunnies are quite, interesting and tame. They're less disturbing compare to cat.
-Bunnies like to play and they'll form a close relationship once you've establish a bond with them.
-Whenever you watch a rabbit's behavior, you'll fall in love with her.
-It's always entertaining watching a rabbit whether individually or in a group.
-You can teach a rabbit doing a trick, even the more feasible-toilet training.
-Rabbit don't really make a noise unless she's scared.
-Rabbit's waste is a good fertilizer. If you like planting, then your rabbit's waste is not really a waste:)
-Bunny don't eat meat (is't consider as an advantage?)

Rabbits as pet- Cons

-Like any other pet, rabbit needs a vet. Going to vet means your $$$$ fly away.
-Bunny likes to explore new surrounding. If you let go your bunny in the open area, chances of your bunny to come back is 50/50
-Indoor rabbit will chew wires and other stuff in the house. It's because rabbit's teeth will constantly grow and only by chewing could trim it off.
- Compare to rabbit's feces, its urine is more stinky. (hey....is there any waste don't smell stinky?)

Ohohoho.....i believe i can play the piano

Funny Rabbit Story?

Assalamualaikum wbt

Today I accidentally come across funny stories of bunny in real life from http://www.kaninchen-net.ch. I've no idea that these stories is considered as funny, not even give me a smile. I would rather say that it's only a news on an unpredictable bunny behavior in daily life.

STORY 1: Rabbit bite policeman

17th of august 2001, Basel. During an arrest in an apartment in Basel a policeman has been bitten by a rabbit into his lower leg. The injured investigator had to have medical treatment in the local hospital.

As the public prosecutor communicated yesterday the team of the cantonal police department of Basel visited the apartment because they presumed that a woman accused of theft was there.

The door was opened by her life companion who declared that his girl friend was not in the apartment. But the policemen didn't believe him and still entered the appartment. During the search of the apartment in which several rabbits were running free one of the officials was attacked by one of the animals. The looked for woman was found by one of the policemen on the balcony where she hid under a cover.

Maybe this rabbit that bit the policeman??

STORY 2: Rabbits make a historical discovery

With the help from animals archeologists in England found a property from the Middle Ages. The first hints of this apparently very important discovery were dug out by rabbits.

Coincidence has always been a good friend to archeologists - but only rather rarely it appears in the figure of rabbits. But this exactly happened now in England: there're an animal digging team has freed the remainings of a manorial country property from the Middle Ages. The property was found after rabbits have dug holes into a hill as the British radio station BBC communicated.

At the place still kept in secrecy painted glas from the 14th century was found among other things. The English monumental office stated that it is a very important discovery.

STORY 3: Rabbit has become star on the internet

I only know this rabbit is a real superstar in tv show.

Rodney, a British rabbit with hanging ears, has conquered a worldwide fan-club. Daily animal friends from Australia, China or America watch Rodney how he spends his days. As the "Daily Mail" reported, the eight month old rabbit owes this global excitement to the internet. When Clare Strafford from Manchester bought the rodent she installed a webcam at his cage at home.

With this she also could watch him at work. But it looks like Clare wasn't the only one visiting the homepage of Rodney. Over time people from all over the world visited the website and now watch attentively Rodney and his preferred occupation: eating carrots, hopping around, cleaning his ears and especially sleeping

Do You Know?

Assalamualaikum wbt

Do you know that......

Keeping a rabbit as a pet is currently illegal in Queensland under the Land Protection Act 2002.

If you watch any buck rabbit circling around making a strange droning noise, it shows that he's trying to find a mate.

People who suffer rabbit syndrome is characterized by involuntary, fine and rhythmic motions of the mouth along a vertical plane, without any involvement of the tongue.

People who allergic to rabbit is not because of the fur, it's the protein in rabbit's saliva or dander (skin cells) that makes people sneeze.

If a rabbit play dead, by lying on its back with its leg stretched out, it's a sign of content rabbit.

If a rabbit suddenly 'punch' you with her front paws when you approach them, she's telling you to get away.

Langkawi Trip with Bunny and Friends

Assalamualaikum wbt

I just went back from langkawi trip yesterday. Actually it's not really a trip, but rather following my dad meeting in langkawi. For most people it may sound great and enjoyable moment being in the island, but for me it's nothing except boring being alone without friends to chat with.

A little facts about Langkawi for those who never heard of it. Langkawi Island is an internationally recognized tourist destination. The government of Malaysia has declared the entire Langkawi Island as a duty free zone. Hence this island is also termed Duty Free Island. All goods sold in this island are exempted from government tax. That's the reason why many local and foreign tourists came to Langkawi as it's a haven for the shoppers.

I came to langkawi for 2 reasons-buy chocolate and travel.

Some of the chocolate.

Oh, I almost forgot to introduce my little friends. This is bunny.....

Teddy......

and Tiger. They've accompanied me going to wildlife park- a place with a variety species of birds and animals.

A grey crested fowl, if I'm not mistaken.

A peacock roaming freely in the park.

The albino long tail macaque grooming his friend.

Various glimmering color of koi swimming elegantly in the pond. I'm stuck with this beautiful creatures for almost 15 minutes :)

For more pictures you can view it in my Flickr photostream. Do leave a comment if you like.

Looks like bunny's interested to swim in the pool. The pool is at my chest level, not too deep for people who don't know to swim. Unfortunately bunny can't swim, she's too small :)
