Chinese New Year Heritage Celebration, Penang

Assalamualaikum wbt

This celebration is a showcase for the richness of the living heritage in Penang. Actually I'm not really expected this kind of celebration because my main point was to go to rabbit's exhibition, but I'm really amazed when I found out there's a lot of event being organized there. Then I noticed that the highlighting theme of celebration is  7 different cultural aspects related to Hokkien, Canton, Teochew, Hainan, Hakka, Wushu, and also Malasysian cultures. Pretty awesome, I guess.

Although I don't understand a single word there, and what most of them were doing but I really enjoy watching all the event that they celebrate. These are some pictures taken while 'searching' for the rabbit's exhibition. They covered a wide area, so it's hard for the first timer like us to know what direction we should go.

These are real bunny kid.

After wandering around we finally arrived at the exhibition.

These are guine pigs, not a rabbit!

It's time to go home and take a good rest (I'm all out of energy, can't wait to sleep)

I'm Waiting

I like this song because it has a truly inspirational meaning plus the vocal of this kid is very good (he's only 13 years old). Literally, this song is about to make a change in life and you can get past something in your life, an emotional breakdown you can get past it.  Lets listen and enjoy the meaning of this song together:)

Today's Quote

"The thought manifests as the word. The word manifests as the deed. The deed develops into habit. And the habit hardens into character. So watch the thought and its ways with care. And let it spring from love, born out of concern for all beings."

Smile!!!

Rabbit 101 Part 3

Assalamualaikum wbt

Checkered Giant- It's a huge and active breed which only available in blue and black in colour varieties. Among its ancestors were the Flemish Giant and purportedly a breed known as the Checkered Lop, a spotted lop.

Cinnamon- Originating in Montana in the 1960s, this breed was developed by rabbit breeder Ellis Houseman. This rabbit is only available in reddish color.

Dwarf Hotot- The rabbit can be found in only white with dark eyes and weigh about 3 pounds. The Dwarf Hotot is small and compact, a stocky, docile little rabbit much like the Netherland Dwarf.

Lilac- It has a dense silky fur evenly coloured throughout in a pinkish dove shade, and of course they've lilac to lavender coloration.

Satin- A genetic mutation found first in a litter of Havana, the Satin is named because of its soft, shiny coat. They are a commercial type rabbit, with one of the best meat to bone ratios. The satin is a medium size rabbit that weighs about 9 pounds.

p/s: Tomorrow (3/2/2011) is Chinese New Year. Once again I wish Gong Xi Fa Chai to all of you. Happy gathering and have a nice holidays with your beloved family (^_~)

How to Hypnotize a Bunny

Assalamualaikum wbt

It's not actually fully hypnosis the bunny, but more likely to put the bunny in a trance. In a trance position, it's very useful to trim the toenails, give a medicine or calm the rabbit.

1. Pick it up with your right hand under the front legs and your left hand on the butt

2. Then stick the bunny in the crook of your elbow just like cradling a baby

3. In that position, use your right hand and start petting the bunny's face

4. Once the bunny looks relax, the head will start to fall backwards and then the bunny is in a trance position.

Don't get it? Watch this guy hypnotize his rabbit.

Practice makes perfect. If your bunny struggles for the first time, be patient and keep trying.

Good luck in hypnotizing your bunny!

Life of Rabbits (that you don't know)

Assalamualaikum wbt

Make up before going out for a date

Wearing a cute dress to impress human

Be a santa claus during christmas

Acting cute in front of camera

Reading a book during leisure time

Plait a hair before going to bed

Working to support their family

Playing piano as part of their hobbies (not all rabbits like this)

But most of the time they don't like to show off. That's why you see rabbits always like to

Living Fossil Rabbit- The Amami

Assalamualaikum wbt

The Amami Rabbit, also known as the Ryukyu Rabbit, is found only on the Japanese islands. They live on two Japanese islands which is Amami Oshima and Tokuna Shimam, in the Ryukyu Archipelago south of the island of Kyushu.

Beach at Amami Oshima

The Amami Rabbit is a living remnant of ancient rabbits and is often referred to as a "living fossil". The Amami Rabbit is so unique and has been isolated from other rabbit species for so long, that they are scarcely even related. The Amami Rabbit has dark fur, short rounded ears, and no tail. It is nocturnal and dwells deep in forests.
The Amami Rabbit is threatened with extinction, with only about 3,000 rabbits believed to remain on the islands. They were overhunted in the 19th century and today they are faced with further pressure from development. Today they're list as endangered species which is soon become totally extinct if no one breed them.

Rabbits Everywhere

Assalamualaikum wbt

Being a rabbit owner is not always a happy moment.

This is a brief history of my rabbit (that I had and still own it)

Her name is Aoi (means blue) because of her beautiful blue eyes. She is my 1st rabbit I bought while studying in the university. She died because of pneumonia (snuffle).
Breed: Mix Angora

This is the second rabbit I bought to accompany Aoi. His name is Sora which means sky. He's lucky because Aoi's disease didn't affect him although they're kept together in a cage.
Breed: Mix Lion Lop

No name. She die because of diarrhea at the age of less than 8 weeks. It's a heartbreaking because I only kept her less than 2 weeks after I bought her at the pet shop.
Breed: Woody Toy

My sister give her name Mimi. I love her so much but for some reason I'd find a new owner to take care of her for some time. Soon I will take her back :)

Latest news, the new owner said she had give birth to 3 cute babies.

The bad news is all 3 had died :(

Breed: Teddy bear (but I believe she's Lion Head)

No name. He is responsible for Mimi's pregnancies. Give to the new owner.
Breed: Teddy bear (But I believe he's angora)

Her name is Pinky. This is the easiest rabbit to care that I had ever own. She accompany me while I'm alone in Langkawi :)

Breed: Hmmm......toy rabbit.....probably...

Neutering and Spaying a Rabbit

Assalamalaikum wbt

It's always been a debate whether to neuter/spay a rabbit or not. Many people said that they won't do this 'cruel' things to their rabbit as it will prevent the natural instinct to breed and reproduce. Cost and lack of knowledge are another limiting factors for most people.

So why spaying/neutering?

1. Medical reasons
- unspayed female rabbits are prone to uterus cancer as high as 80% after age 5 years. So by spaying the rabbits, they will live longer and healthier.

2. Behavior
- both male and female rabbits will spray urine to mark their territory. They're also aggressive towards each other or to other pets when they've reached their sexual maturity. Having your rabbits alter will make cut off the aggressive behavior.

3. Litter box training
-become much more easier

4. Avoid unplanned litter

-if you keep one pair rabbits together, they will breed and end up with a litter. Ok maybe for the first time you're excited with the cute little baby. But how long you can withstand if the rabbit giving a birth every 3 months? Soon your house is full with rabbit and also its waste
